Traditional feasts that occur at the beginning of the Brazilian winter in June in honour of Saint Anthony (Santo Antônio), Saint John the Baptist (São João) and Saint Peter (São Pedro). The theme of these festivities revolves around rural life. Those attending dress up in rural clothing, dance the quadrilha, are treated to typical Brazilian food such as canjica and pé de moleque, drink quentão, enjoy bonfires and play games to win small prizes. Every region in Brazil has its own way of celebrating the Festas Juninas.
